The Eugene Sangat recently completed phase one of significant upgrades to the Legacy Gurdwara and is undertaking a fundraising effort to cover phase two.
Phase one included updating the entire existing building with all new windows, lighting, heat pump, art, all new paint, roof repair, new sidewalks, a low wall with outdoor seating, and signage. And, significantly, total update of the legal status of the building. That all cost around $100,000.
Thank You to everyone who contributed time and funds to make phase one a reality.
Phase two is starting. All structures north of the main entry will be demolished and a two story addition added. With a kitchen and Langar hall, small additional Gurdwara, restrooms, more storage and an upstairs Nivas for guests and visiting Ragis.
The total cost of the new addition is nearly $900,000. A design has been created and in for permits that will greatly enhance the Gurdwara’s ability to serve.
Kindly help with donations to complete this blessed project.
EXPANSION PROJECT ON TRACK
The Expansion project remains on-track as of November, 2021. The plans are completed and submitted for permits. Plans are posted at the Gurdwara. The Building Design has changed on the outside due to Solar (Sunshine) consideration for the Apartment Building next door. The interior design has stayed much the same with some nice refinements. The new design is very much in keeping with the concept of the “Country Gurdwara” so dearly loved for nearly 50 years. In spite of the COVID-19 Pandemic and Gurdara Suspensions, a level of excitement continues for this expansion project.
